Moon Festival Edition: Saturday, September 12, 2026
Registration closes two days before class.
Tea Dynasty Voyage: Chinese Pu-erh & Oolong Traditions is one of Churchill's Fine Teas' signature annual tea education experiences. Each autumn, we explore the history, craftsmanship, and tasting traditions of China's renowned Pu-erh and Oolong teas. This class is offered as a special Moon Festival edition, celebrating the season of reunion with traditional mooncakes and thoughtfully paired teas.
Celebrate the spirit of the Mid-Autumn (Moon) Festival with an afternoon exploring two of China's most celebrated teas: Pu-erh and Oolong. Traditionally a time for family reunions, gratitude, and gathering beneath the full harvest moon, the festival offers the perfect setting to discover the rich heritage and craftsmanship behind these timeless teas.
Together, we'll explore the history, traditions, and cultural significance of Pu-erh and Oolong—from ancient tea mountains and skilled artisans to the customs that have made tea an enduring part of Chinese life for centuries. You'll learn how these teas are carefully crafted, the differences between their styles and processing methods, and how those techniques shape the aromas and flavors in every cup.
As we taste a curated selection of Pu-erh and Oolong teas, we'll also touch on the traditions of the Moon Festival, including the symbolism of tea, mooncakes, and the full moon as a celebration of abundance, harmony, and reunion. Join us for an afternoon of exceptional tea, fascinating history, and a seasonal tradition that has brought people together for generations.
